Deck Restoration
From firewood-grey back to a deck you want to use
From firewood-grey back to a deck you want to use
There's a difference between painting a deck and restoring one. Restoration is the bigger job: stripping the old finish, opening the wood pores back up, sanding out splinters, and laying down a fresh seal-and-stain system that protects the wood for years.
Why low-pressure cleaning matters
Pressure washing a deck wrong is one of the fastest ways to damage the wood. Too high a PSI gouges fibers, raises grain, and shortens the deck's life. We use professional-grade cleaners and brighteners with low-pressure wash, restoring the wood without tearing it up.
The two-step finish system
After cleaning and sanding, we seal the wood first. The sealer penetrates and conditions the lumber. Then we apply stain on top. Done in this order, you get color, UV protection, and water resistance that lasts. Done as one product, you usually get a year or two before failure.
What restoration includes
- Strip of old finish with environmentally safe products
- Low-pressure wash and brightener treatment
- Sanding of horizontal surfaces and any splintered areas
- Replacement of clearly failed boards with matched lumber
- Penetrating sealer first, then color stain on top
- Railings, balusters, stair risers, and stringers all finished
- Walk-through inspection before payment
